MGCB Grants Fresh Casino Gaming Licenses to Playzido and Authentic Gaming

Much has been said about the wide scale expansion of Michigan gambling. But little is mentioned about how much the variety of slot games contribute to the industry’s growth. The Michigan Gaming Control Board has also been no less instrumental in charting the course for online casinos to trend their offerings catalog upwards.

Through the grant of licenses and its constant quality assurance, the regulator has ensured that globally renowned game suppliers made their way into the state. Playzido is only one of the latest developers to receive a supplier license in Michigan. With its entry into the market, the slot count at Michigan online casinos may well cross 10,000 by the start of 2024.

In September, the Michigan Gaming Control Board granted Playzido a B2B supplier license which would allow the developer to partner with casino operators in the state. Thanks to this license, Michigan online casinos can tap into contemporary gaming content on Playzido’s proprietary remote gaming server platform and studios that could not be accessed prior to now.

It’s interesting to note that Playzido is a subsidiary of Light & Wonder, a Vegas-based gambling service provider. Formerly known as Scientific Games, Light & Wonder acquired Playzido in 2022 as part of an attempt to expand its gaming offering to American casinos. Light & Wonder had previously been licensed by the Michigan Gaming Control Board. But now, with the introduction of Playzido, its partner casinos in the Wolverine State would have access to an even more diverse collection.

“This new license for Playzido in Michigan is a significant moment for us in terms of creation and delivering content that truly appeals to players in the state,” Head of US Commercial iGaming at Light & Wonder, Dan Jackel mentioned in a press release.

“Playzido’s platform is rightly regarded as one of the industry’s strongest and has already enjoyed enormous success in Europe. Everyone at Light & Wonder is ecstatic to harness the Playzido technology to bring next-level studios and games to our operator partners and players in Michigan to enjoy.”

Some of the most popular slot titles that casino players can expect in Michigan include Blazing 777 2x3x5x, Diamond Multiplier Respin and Charlie’s Angels. As it stands, the following online casinos will feature Playzido games starting this October:

• BetMGM Casino MI
• Caesars Casino MI
• Golden Nugget Casino MI

Still in September, the Michigan Gaming Control Board approved Authentic Gaming’s application to offer live dealer table games on specific casino platforms. Another subsidiary of Light & Wonder, Authentic Gaming focuses on live dealer options like baccarat, blackjack, and roulette. According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, the supplier is expected to begin operations early in October. It joins Playtech and Evolution as the third licensed company to stream live dealer titles to Michigan customers.

“Live dealer online casino table games offer an immersive and engaging gambling experience that combines the convenience of online gaming with the authenticity of the environment in a land-based casino,” MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said in the release. “Players can enjoy the excitement of playing their favorite casino games with real dealers in real time, all from the comfort of their home or wherever they may be.”

Authentic Gaming will stream its live dealer games from a Farmington Hills studio and will offer its products to Golden Nugget Michigan Online Casino and BetRivers Casino MI. The games supplier is in partnership with Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, hence the exclusive list of casinos.

With new developers trooping into Michigan, the slot games available at the state’s casinos have increased significantly. As at the end of the last quarter, Michigan’s total online casino slots tally stood at over 9,660. BetMGM Michigan Casino had the highest number of games with 1,239.

In the second quarter, the casino was the only operator with more than 1,000 games. Now, it is joined by DraftKings Casino MI, BetRivers and WynnBet Casino Michigan. DraftKings casino had the highest individual operator increase, with a 62.2% growth that saw its slot games offering grow from 720 to 1,168.

Of the total tally of 9,664 games in Michigan, 975 are jackpot slots. It is expected that even more games will be available in the state with Light & Wonder expanding its reach across specific casinos.
