NBA Picks and Parlay of the Weekend

The NBA regular season is entering its final week, and this may be our last chance to make a winning parlay on the Detroit Pistons at Michigan Sportsbooks. The banged-up Pistons are in Brooklyn tonight to face the Nets, who are out of playoff contention. Detroit is heavy underdogs again, but we see some good opportunity here. Don’t miss a good win!

Detroit Pistons at Brooklyn Nets Best Bet

Nets -9.5 (-108) at FanDuel

Detroit needs three wins in its last five games to match the worst record in franchise history and get to 16 wins. Not happening.

The Pistons are basically throwing out a G-League team at this point. Half of the team is hurt. Cade Cunningham is questionable tonight with a knee injury, but my gut instinct is that he’s done for the year. Detroit started Troy Brown Jr and Tosan Evbuomwan against Memphis Friday night. Who are they? Beats me. I know Evbuomwan played at Princeton.

Pistons reserve guard Malachi Flynn was the talk of the NBA this week after going off for 50 against Atlanta. Then he went 0-12 with three points against Memphis. The Pistons just can’t have nice things.

Brooklyn isn’t good. They’ve had a season like the Pistons except they had higher expectations. Injuries did them in, but they have won eight of the last 10 meetings. Brooklyn is an NBA team right now and Detroit isn’t.

Take Brooklyn at home to cruise.

Detroit Pistons at Brooklyn Nets Total Best Bet

Over 215 (-110) at FanDuel

The over bet has been so good for me all season, I am going to stick with it here. Even though I know this is basically a mishmash of G-Leaguers and guys playing out the string. What does that mean? It means no defense and everyone wanting to score.

The Nets have averaged 115 points in their last five games. Thomas, 22 points a game, is still a quality NBA player. The Pistons have only averaged 99 points in their last five games. That’s what happens when all your NBA-level talent is hurt.

Still, Brooklyn isn’t exactly a defensive juggernaut. They’ve allowed 113 a game this season. So I like the Pistons chance to score over 100 and the Nets too. Someone is going to get hot.

Look for the over tonight in Brooklyn.

Jalen Duren Total Points Best Bet

Over 13.5 (-122) at FanDuel

Watching the Pistons, if there is one guy who frustrates fans (among many) it would be Jalen Duren. He shows flashes - just like the rest of the Pistons do - of being unstoppable. He’s 6-foot-10, 250 pounds, freakishly athletic, but the NBA game still seems too fast for him.

But this is only Duren’s second season in the League and his numbers are up just about everywhere from last year. He’s up in points, rebounds and assists, but down in games played, which is not a good sign.. He is coming off 17 points against the Grizzlies.

Duren should be a 20 and 10 guy in the NBA. He’s only 20-years old and has time to figure it out. The Pistons need him to be a core block going forward.

This should be a game where he gets plenty of chances. The Nets don’t have a big man like him. I’ll take Duren over.
